Words are deep
They rip the soul
For good or for bad
The way they slash one apart
From those who we care
Yet they seem not to care
Those words like arrows
Filled with poison to destroy my soul
In a time of rage
The truth comes out
The heart speaks what has been hidden underneath
But they cannot see the pain it has caused
The depth of the arrow have hurt my heart
It leaks with tears
For the blood has dried out
Years of bleeding it can no longer bleed
Only tears of pain drip one by one
So remember when you speak
And those words that come out
Be careful what you say
For those words can travel a long way

  1. Whoever said “Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me” was not too bright, or wasn’t being honest with himself. This is a wonderfully honest poem and a good reminder to watch our words.
