ABOUT THE BOOK:
This is the thrilling story of Nicky Cruz’s desperate battle against drugs, alcoholism, and a violent environment, as he searched for a better way of life on the streets of New York City.

MY REVIEW:
The book follows the life of preacher Nicky Cruz. Right from the beginning of the story I was drawn in due to the detail of every event in Cruz’s life. It is remarkable how he depicts growing up in a household where witchcraft was practiced. As you read along you begin to see how messed up his life was as a child, but in all of this his heart was always tender not knowing the potential he had as a future leader. It is amazing when he moves to New York and begins to gangbang. What I really enjoyed from this book was the attention to detail in every instance. One event that has stuck with me as I read this book was when a preacher tells Nicky, Jesus love you, these three words did not let him sleep at all as they kept revolving in his mind; God had a purpose for him. I think one of those purposes was to write this book. I believe this book will be good for young people and all alike to read. Anyone can relate to many the things Cruz went through, from not having the love he needed, to looking for that acceptance from someone. I give this book a 5 star out of 5, great read!
